Josh Yonker is entering his fourth year as the head athletic trainer for the Lamar athletics department, joining the staff in August of 2005. As the athletic trainer, Yonker directs and supervises the student athletic training internship program at Lamar, which services the department's 15 intercollegiate sports. The program has sent numerous athletic trainers into professional, collegiate and high school ranks. He is also an instructor in the kinesiology department. A native of Denver, Yonker came to Lamar after receiving a master of science degree in exercise science from Utah State in Logan, Utah. While at Utah State, he served as a graduate assistant working with the sports of football, women's basketball and women's soccer. He was also a lab instructor for the athletic injuries class. Prior to that, Yonker was an athletic training student at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport and Exercise with an emphasis in athletic training. Yonker is a Certified Athletic Trainer and is a Texas licensed athletic trainer. |
