Media Information

Credentials
Requests for media and photo credentials should be faxed or mailed on official letterhead to the Lamar University Sports Information Office (Fax: 409-880-2338) at least one week in advance of the event. Requests are accepted from sports editors or sports directors only. When time permits, working credentials will be mailed. When this is not possible, they will be available at the Will Call window at the box office.

Practice Coverage
For basketball, the team normally practices from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Mon.-Sat. The team is generally off on Sunday’s. Practices are generally open, unless otherwise specified, and interested media are invited to attend. At times, however, practice sessions may be closed to the media. Media wishing to conduct player interviews are encouraged to do so prior to practice or immediately following practice. To schedule an interview session, contact the Lamar Sports Information Office (409-880-8329/2323) one day in advance. No player will be pulled from practice to conduct an interview.

For baseball, the team generally practices from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Mon.-Thurs. Practice is generally open to interested media. Media wishing to conduct player interviews are encouraged to do so prior to the start of practice.

Postgame Interviews
For basketball, head coach Billy Tubbs and selected players will be brought to the interview room (Hall of Honor room adjacent to the Cardinals Club room) following the 10-minute cooling-off period. Lamar’s locker room is CLOSED following the game.

For Baseball, head coach Jim Gilligan and players will be available on the field after the 10-minute cooling-off period and/or when coach Gilligan is finished addressing the team on the field.

Statistical Services
Game programs, fact sheets, and updated statistics will be available in the media work room, which is located in front of the Hall of Honor lounge at the west arena floor level entrance. Game statistics will be distributed at halftime. Final box scores and complete game books will be available in the media work room following the game. Phone lines will be available for transmitting game stories on a first-come, first-served basis.

For baseball, fact sheets, roster and updated stats will be available in the press box prior to the game. Final box scores will be available in the press box following the game. Phone lines will be available for transmitting game stories on a first-come, first-served basis.
