Harding Leads Hootie At Bulls Bay After Round One
March 24, 2008 AWENDAW, S.C. - Lamar's Justin Harding fired a four-under-par 67 to take a first round lead at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate Sunday. With Lamar starting on the back nine of the par 71, 7,261-yard Bulls Bay Golf Club, Harding went out in 32 with four birdies and a bogey. He bogied his 12th hole and finished his round with birdies on two of the final four holes. Harding holds a one-shot lead over Keith Guest of Augusta State and Webb Simpson of Wake Forest. Lamar posted a team score of 286 and is tied for fifth with No. 8 Auburn. No. 15 South Carolina holds the opening-round lead at 280, followed by Augusta State at 284, with No. 10 Florida and No. 14 Clemson tied for third at 285. Three of the Lamar's other four golfers - Casey Clendenon, Leroux Ferriera and Hugues Joannes - turned in two-over-par rounds of 73. Russell Helson's 75 was not used towards Sunday's team score. Lamar will be paired with Clemson and Auburn on Monday with the tee times beginning at 10 a.m. Eastern time. The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday.
