BEAUMONT - The Lamar University men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to the Roadrunners of UT-San Antonio on Sunday afternoon at the Cardinal Courts.

In doubles play the Cardinals won the match at No. 1 doubles as Filip Kanczula and Maciej Bogusz took down the Roadrunner tandem of Andre Moreira and Adam Becker 8-5, but could not hold on to win the doubles point as UTSA won at two and three. Rodrigo Morgado and Daniel Moreiras took down LU's Diego Snyder and Allan Gomes 8-4 at No. 2 while Robin Fernandes and Max Stratman defeated Mario Janjic and David Wanja 8-4.

In singles play the Cardinals picked up points at No. 1 and No. 4 as Kanczula and Snyder collected wins, but UTSA prevailed in the rest of the matches to notch the 5-2 win. Kanczula fought from behind to post a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 over Morgado and Snyder handed Becker a 7-5, 6-4 loss in the four spot.

The Cardinals, who fall to 7-15 overall and 1-4 in Southland Conference play with the loss, will be back in action on Wednesday at 2 p.m. when they wrap up the regular season against the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders at the Cardinal Courts.
