Matthew Dillon Resigns as Women's Soccer Coach

Nov. 5, 2007

BEAUMONT - After nearly 16 months on the job and leading Lamar University into its inaugural women's soccer season, Matthew Dillon has resigned as head coach of the program, announced Director of Athletics Billy Tubbs.

Dillon, who was hired as Lamar's first-ever soccer coach on July 19, 2006, guided the Cardinals to a 0-18 overall record and a 0-9 mark in Southland Conference play this season.

"I thank coach Dillon for all of his efforts that went into getting the facilities and program started and wish him the best of luck in future endeavors," said Tubbs.

A national search will begin immediately for a new soccer coach. Assistant coach Jodi Clugston remains on staff to direct the program on an interim basis until a new coach is hired.
