Five Questions With Kaci Brewer
Question 1: With two matches left to play in the regular season, what does this team have to do to capture a Southland Conference championship? Answer: We need to go in to these last two matches strong. Since the SFA match we have kind of relaxed, like teams are just going to lay down for us, but they aren't. We have to have the mentality that every match is for the ring. Not just the match against SFA, but every time we step on the court we have to play like it's our last game. Question 2: What would it mean to you if you all are able to accomplish your goal of winning the conference title? Answer: I can't even explain it. We've busted our butts since the first of August to get to this point, now it's finally coming true. Teams talk all the time about winning a championship, and it's becoming a reality for us right now if we win this weekend. The feeling is great, but I can't really describe it. Question 3: What happened for this team that got you on the roll you all are on right now, with just one loss in the last two months? Answer: I think the match against New Orleans was an important lesson for us. We went into that match, after losing to TCU the night before, thinking we would beat them pretty easily. We didn't show them respect and they stepped up and beat us. After that loss we hated the way we felt and we decided to start making teams respect us the way New Orleans made us respect them. Question 4: How important is it to maintain a high level of play and not relax at any point? Answer: It's very important to play at your highest level. If you play relaxed and are lucky enough to win, it is going to carry over. If we were to not play at our highest level this weekend, it would carry over to the conference tournament and you have to be ready to play in the tournament. You have to come out ready to play from the first point, no matter who you are playing. Question 5: If you could change places with any teammate of yours, who would it be and why?
Answer: I would change places with Adrianne Meengs because she does so much for this team. As a team, we have so much respect for her. She has to do so much and she always does a great job. If there is a bad pass she has to throw something up there that's hittable. And it Molli (Abel) or I have a great game with 20 kills or we hit 1,000 for the match, we get the credit, but if it wasn't for her we wouldn't be able to do it. |
